How data-quality grades are assigned

Updated October 2026

A mechanical A–D rule, printed in full, applied to every coverage and reported-case series.

Every series on the country and disease pages carries a grade from A to D. The grade is about the data, not the country or the programme: it says how much to trust the number and why. The rules are mechanical and printed here so they can be checked; the facts behind each grade are in the row's tooltip and in the downloadable JSON.

Sources and build

Coverage figures are WHO/UNICEF estimates unless a row says otherwise; reported cases are what national authorities sent to WHO and undercount true infections. Each series carries a data-quality grade that says why.
