Two kinds of number live on this page. Coverage is the share of the target cohort vaccinated, as estimated by WHO and UNICEF each July from the country's reports, surveys and other evidence, shown beside what the country itself reported. Reported cases are what the national surveillance system sent to WHO; they are a floor, not a count of infections. Every row carries a grade; hover or focus it for the reason, or read how grades are assigned.

BCGBCG (Baccille Calmette Guérin) vaccine1Risk group(s)Child and adult risk groups. In 2015, the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) and the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) both recommended that BCG vaccine does not need to be given to all children in Ireland. Currently BCG is not part of the immunisation schedule in Ireland.

HPV9HPV-9 (Human papillomavirus 9-valent) vaccine1Y12HPV administered to females and malesFrom 2019, switched to HPV9 and to females and males in first year of secondary school. Since November 2022 a single dose of HPV vaccine is recommended in Ireland for those aged 9-24 years who are immunocompetent as there is now sufficient evidence that there is no significant difference in vaccine effectiveness between those aged nine to 24 years of age who are immunocompetent who receive one, two, or three vaccine doses.

Data and sources

Coverage figures are WHO/UNICEF estimates unless a row says otherwise; reported cases are what national authorities sent to WHO and undercount true infections. Each series carries a data-quality grade that says why.
